Immediately following the 2012 election, CIRCLE fielded a nationally representative youth survey to understand more about youth engagement in the election. This data is now available online at ICPSR (The Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research).

In addition to 2012 election experiences, the survey asked youth about their background and school experiences to understand what might be correlated with political engagement. The dataset was constructed using random digit dialing for cell phone and land lines to reach 4,483 participants. Variables for state voting policy (from the time of the survey) are also included. The survey focused on youth 18-to-24 year olds who are citizens of the United States.

This data was collected to inform the Commission on Youth Voting and Civic Knowledge.
